Would you like to bring a little personality and playfulness to your bedroom? This time, with our creative director Jana Hučíková, we discuss combining stripes, Oxford and classic styles, and bolder colour shades.

We design all our collections so that their colours harmonise and they can be combined with one another. We explained the basics of the Mix & Match system in our article on easy coordination, and it is also worth reading our tips on combining materials, sizes and the number of pillows.

But how do you take Mix & Match even further? "You can never go wrong with a white T-shirt and jeans," says Lejaan's creative director Jana Hučíková. "But adding a delicate necklace, a brooch, a hair scarf and neon pumps - that's the next level."

OXFORD AND CLASSIC TOGETHER

"If I choose a single style, the bed will always look compact, clean and uniform. But that doesn't mean the classic and Oxford styles can't be combined," says Jana.

So how do you alternate classic pillowcases with those with a decorative border? "The basic rule I follow usually mirrors the different sizes of pillows on the bed: large, medium and small - classic, Oxford, classic," Jana recommends.

"In this trio, I usually choose the largest pillow without a border. Otherwise there would be a big disproportion between the largest and the medium one. Used this way, the border adds a decorative element without dominating."

COLOURED SHEETS

The range of Lejaan sheets has recently expanded to eight colours. But when should you reach for a more playful shade, and when is it better to stick to classic white? "I choose coloured sheets when I want to add a colourful detail to a monochrome interior, or when the colour already appears in the interior and I want to connect it with the bed," Jana advises.

A coloured sheet is another way to liven up the bed and the interior when you don't want multicoloured pillows. "I love that moment when you pull back, say, a white duvet and a colour appears underneath," she adds.

A white sheet is universal. Reach for it whenever you want to keep an elegant style, where the bed is either entirely pure white or where there is a psychological need to keep the classic style of a white sheet paired with colourful bedding.

BOLD VS. SUBTLE COMBINATIONS

Mix & Match can easily become an expression of your personal style, your interior design intentions or your character.

"A combination of pink, white and beige will work if you lean towards understated elegance. The shades go together because they are in warm tones, and the interior features sophisticated materials such as wood and marble," Jana illustrates with an example.

On the other hand, a collection built on a dark base colour is simple, yet very distinctive and with a clear point of view. When you combine contrasting colours, the result looks striking and bold.

COMBINING STRIPES WITH STRIPES

"I've always admired people who could pair two different patterns in an outfit. It's the same principle here, it just takes a little courage," Jana encourages.

By combining different stripes, you bring playfulness to the interior. Elements that seem mismatched at first glance work surprisingly well together and draw attention.
